The main differences will often be in the style of the generics and sometimes the quality. From what I know Perfecto, TopFin, All Glass and the like are mass-market grade aquariums. Good for the average hobbyist not wanting to spend a fortune, but not the best you can buy. They are decent mid-grade units. They have been pretty good to me, since I am not rich.

So, my question to everyone in the DIY world is, do you know if the Top Fin aquariums use tempered glass? I would guess the bottom is tempered (although don't know for sure), but don't know if the sides are. I asked the people at the store, and was told that all of their aquariums use tempered glass on all 4 sides and the bottom. I asked if this included EVERY tank, like the 10 gallon tanks, and they said yes. This leads me to believe they don't know what they are talking about. This recall involves five models of Top Fin Power Filters.
