Hey, dont know if you are still checking this because you were talking about it in May...but Koi will spawn with other fish ie; goldfish and when this happens you will get brownish black fish with golden underbellies. They will be sterle like a mule. We have baby koi that are 3" and they are bright colors and patterns, however they will change some as they grow...kind like appaloosa horses change their spot patterns as they age. Koi will generally
lock into their color pattern at about half grown.
Koi originally were bred from brownish black carp and so
naturally some of their offspring will revert back to that color also.
My advise is to destroy or give away the non-colored babies. Good luck
Baby Koi fish can be as small as three inches. They will grow to a length between one and two feet.

Hey Gary. Congrats on the baby koi, they are always fun to have. It’s hard to say if they are hybrid, you do have enough koi in there to likely have a male and female, so I would tend to lean toward them just being koi. You also have goldfish, there is always the chance that you have both type of baby in your pond, koi and goldfish babies. I don’t know if I’d assume anything just yet, I think its good to just give them a little more time to develop and you will know who’s who in a couple of weeks! -Mike Paint "Koi Fish" from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Addie's Baby Studio.

After the initial risk-stage (3in in length) has passed then Koi are extremely friendly with their baby Koi and any other fishes and they will not harm them.Hard-boiled egg yolk is an ideal food for the first day or so - this has very little dietary value, but will increase the size of the stomach. Newly hatched brine shrimp (Artemia sauna) larvae are also a good food source for young Koi fry. Start feeding the brine shrimp when the Koi are about one week old. After another week or so, the baby Koi will be ready for a mash diet(the powder dust that is left after the manufacturing process of fish food). From this time onwards, feed the koi food of a size that can be taken by the smallest fish in the vat.If you have fish in your pond, sooner or later they are going to have babies. Late spring to early summer usually marks the time of year when koi and goldfish start to spawn. When koi and goldfish spawn, they produce thousands of eggs but very few actually survive and grow up into baby fish. Koi are egg “scatterers,” meaning they generally deposit their eggs on the bottom of the pond or in plants. My huge Koi fish will eat their fish food from a baby bottle. Some of the Koi fish are 20 to 30 pounds. The Koi are 4 to 7 years old, but they still will eat from a baby bottle.Baby Fish - Koi Breeding Naturally and Baby Fish (fry) feeding and biology.
