If your child is pestering you for a pet but you don’t really want the responsibility of caring for a puppy or a kitten, perhaps a fish (or some fish) is a good compromise.
Great place to shop for all of your fish needs, and items for your pets and fish tank supplies.

Fish were kept as pets already in ancient times. The ancient kept fish both as a source of food and for entertainment. Their hieroglyphics depict Tilapia species and Mormyrids. The began to breed (from carp) in the 10th century. Goldfish were introduced to Europe at the end of the 18th century. After living for 25 years as a human, I have decided that I should have been a pet fish.

Being stuck inside a bowl or a tank is , and neither is the trip to the pet stores where they’re sold. Many fish are put in tiny containers and left there for days. Animals often arrive at pet stores dying of starvation, sick, pregnant, or injured.I accompanied Fitzpatrick up to the South Bronx because a man had been trying to sell his alligator on Craigslist. We didn’t find the alligator but Lieutenant Fitzpatrick kept talking about these illegal, super-expensive pet fish that were coming into the city and were the bane of his existence. At first, I was not interested. I am not a fish person. I thought of pet fish as a boring subject. Then I started digging into it deeper. After spending the beginning of their lives in cramped tubs, fish are sold to , pet stores, and bait shops. Many will be forced to spend the rest of their lives in tiny bags or bowls, which don’t give them the space or oxygen they need to be healthy. When I first began to research the Asian arowana, one name kept coming up: Kenny the Fish, aka Kenny Yap. He is the kingpin at the center of the glamorous world of Asian aquaculture. He is the owner of one of the largest ornamental fish farms in Asia and notorious in Singapore for posing nude behind intricately placed aquatic pets. When I showed up at his farm he was seated behind a pink and turquoise desk under the inevitable photographs of him posing nude with strategically placed pet fish. You write, “The human species is unique in its compulsion to tame and nurture nearly all other vertebrate creatures.” Why do people keep pet fish?I went by the Petco and Petsmart to look at fish for sale today here in Kingman AZ. Many varieties to consider, I'll probably get some fresh water tropical fishes, as I'm just not confident enough yet to try a salt water fish aqaurium. I have for now a Fluval Chi 5 gallon fish tank, just a catfish and small ghost shrimp in it. I'm thinking of setting up a 55 gallon tank, quite a jump in aquarium size. Pets Mart and Petco have different fish, well, some are, I'm just not sure which pet store is better. Yeah, one dead fish you see at the end of the fish video, from the Pet smart fish dept.

I'm glad that these pet stores are in town, otherwise it would be only Walmart. There wasn't much to choose from there at the Walmart Fish Department, and it looked like they don't care for the fish that well.

Not sure which of the 50 states you can find these pet shops, possibly in all fifty states here in the United States? In Alabama Alaska Arizona Arkansas California Colorado Connecticut Delaware Florida Georgia Hawaii Idaho Illinois Indiana Iowa Kansas Kentucky Louisiana Maine Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Montana Nebraska Nevada New Hampshire New Jersey New Mexico New York North Carolina North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Utah Vermont Virginia Washington West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming
