Male betta fish are intolerant of each other but can be paired with female bettas so long as hiding spaces are provided. Male bettas can be housed in the same aquarium so long as a divider separates them from having contact with each other. In this type of setup, males will constantly display to each other across the barrier. Contrary to popular belief, bettas make great community tank members. They get along very well with other community type fish (see the handout for more information on community fish) as long as the other fish are not prone to nipping the long fins of bettas.

Many seasoned and first time aquarium owners opt for artificial fish tank plants because they offer a low-maintenance and lifelike décor solution. Although they can’t serve as a food or an oxygen source, they do not require consistent monitoring for proper lighting, decay, parasites, and water chemistry. You will find that the artificial aquarium plants for sale at Petco are also very easy to install, clean, and switch up. Artificial aquarium plants can also be set up in any tank regardless of water type, so you can feel free to add a coral reef with silk plants to your freshwater ecosystem. If you want to recreate a more natural environment for your betta fish, you can reduce their stress with aquarium plants for sale which double as beds for your pet. 11 items - Aquarium Fish Tank Hatch Box Hanging Isolators Boxes Double Layers Peacock Betta Young Fish Breeding Feeding Box. Most aquarium safe rocks are safe for bettas. However, some rocks will raise the pH and hardness of the water. Stay away from Texas holey rock, sandstone, rainbow rock, and limestone. Safe rocks include lava rock (though it may be rough and damage betta fins), slate, agate, granite, and basalt. Most crystals like amethyst and quartz are safe. If in doubt, ask at a knowledgeable fish store (not chain pet store, as they are rarely educated on such topics). Seashells and coral can also adversly affect the pH of the water and should be left out of a betta's tank. There are several ways to make this tank divider. One way is to make a one-sheet divider like the ones they sell in stores. I think the more space you put between the fish, the better. So I will go over what I did for my tank, making a double sheet betta divider. For a , you’ll only need two sheets. For a 10 gallon, you might still need two just in case. For a 20 gallon tall, you will need to buy at least one more sheet, two to be safe. Some of aren’t even fish. Freshwater snails and ghost shrimp, for example, won’t raise the ire of your Betta, and they’ll even do double duty by keeping the tank clean.Hi. Nice page. I have a Double Veil Tail and his name is Ormus. Named after the character in the 3rd act of Diablo 2 lol. Anyhow I just wanted to say that he is my first betta and they are great fish. I have him in a 20 gallon tall and I have it planted with about a dozen anubias nana and coffeefolia attached to nice drift wood. Bettas are such inquisitive fish. He swims and explores all day and I have him in with 9 dwarf zebra loaches which he sometimes chases from his favorite spots in the tank but they house well together. I can put bits of food on my finger tips and he eats from my hands. Anyhow, that is my fish story and I just wanted to say nice site.
