Betta eggs hatching and Male Betta recovery
After a few days, the eggs will start hatching. This is the time to take out the male and allow him to recover. As the babies begin to hatch, it is advisable to separate the male fry when they are around 3 months old. You can search the internet for the food items that are most recommended to feed the baby fry. That’s the step by step guide on how to breed Betta fish, it’s awesomely fun, but a big investment of time and effort though! my Crowntail betta fish couple. Observation - Before purchasing the Bettas you wish to breed, . Watch for the fish that are more energetic, for active fish will increase your chances of . The best Bettas for breeding are those that are mature and have been conditioned in their respective tanks for at least a few days. Working with several pairs at once allows for trial and error and will nearly ensure success with at least one male and female. The Betta genus includes more than 100 different species. The similarities amongst these species include small size, colorful bodies and ray-shaped fins. All of the types of Betta fish can be placed in one of two groups, based on their breeding habits: Betta Pictas (mouth brooders) and Betta Splendens (bubble nest builders). Feeding - Always feed breeding fish a proper, balanced diet. Experienced breeders recommend live brine shrimp and blackworms which help condition the fish for breeding. Continue the Betta’s normal diet of standard flake foods as well as live and frozen foods. To help with conditioning, place the male and female in separate tanks but next to each other with a glass partition between them, and feed them live food simultaneously. Even the sight of the female might provoke the male to begin building its bubblenest. This fin variety most closely resembles wild betta splendens, as long tails and the subsequent tail types were all selectively bred by human intervention. These fish are often mistaken for female bettas, who generally have shorter fins, but this is an entirely different variety of betta. Males can be distinguished by females by their longer ventral fins, more pointed/angled anal fin, and slightly different body shape. Betta Splendens are the types of Betta fish sold in pet stores. While there are seven distinct breeds of BettaSplendens, breeders have been playing with this group of fish for more than 200 years, making many of these typesof Betta fish hard to classify. With all the different combinations of Betta breeding, its no wonder the genus nowincludes more than 100 different species!I have been breeding bettas for about a year and a half, and have had about ten or so successful spawns. It first started with a trip to the Local Pet Store (seems it always starts this way!) when I left with a pair of red/blue bettas, a ten gallon tank, a filter, food and a book on the care of the fish. Suffice to say, they didn't survive long, and I never got them to breed. I continued to buy more from the pet store and finally got a couple of spawns to take place. I went on the Net, did a bit of searching, and had a couple of shipments of IBC (International Betta Congress) quality bettas sent to me. I started breeding them, and to this day, I breed and show my fish and have won many CAOAC awards for my bettas. (They love me, they really love me!!).
