Water will damage many materials if they are not treated properly. Metal can eventually corrode. Wood that is not properly finished can quickly be destroyed. If you want to go with a wood aquarium stand, just make sure that it is sealed properly. Laminate fish tank stands usually hold up better to water than traditional wood given its plastic like properties. The granddaddy of them all is the acrylic aquarium stand. These stands are usually are made to match a specific tank. Water has no effect on these stands making them the ideal material choice for your aquarium stand. Durable acrylic for long stand life. Glass aquariums are more resistant to scratches than acrylic. While a glass aquarium can be scratched, it is much harder to scratch a glass aquarium than an acrylic aquarium. You can use a razor blade or abrasive scrapers to clean a glass aquarium whereas the same tools used on an acrylic aquarium would be disastrous.Acrylic has been building aquarium stands to compliment their fine acrylic aquariums for 25+ years. Signature Acrylic finishes are their Unitex, Tenetex, and Fauxstone furniture, as well as fine solid acrylic, and Wilsonart Laminates in virtually any color or finish under the sun. Custom options are always available, and we welcome you to let us help you chose the perfect match for your home or workplace.Acrylic aquariums are visibly clearer than glass aquariums. Glass aquariums, especially thick glass, have a tendency to distort the view of the inhabitants. Most acrylic does not have the common green tint that is normally associated with standard glass aquariums. Acrylic may still have color, and this should be taken in to consideration when purchasing your tank. Acrylic and Glass Exhibits Inc. is Wholesale Only and works exclusively with aquarium stores & service companies, institutes, design centers, commercial enterprises and does not sell direct to the public. We have over 60 years of combined acrylic and glass aquarium manufacturing experience. Unlike other manufacturers, both we and our partners have made significant equipment investments to provide quality products to the highest of tolerances (.005" or less). A.G.E. applies the latest innovations along with traditional methods in aquarium manufacturing. CNC routing machines, diamond glass polishing equipment (not just diamond cutting), abrasive water jetting and glass bending ovens enable us to fabricate design features never seen before in our industry. Our large format CNC router allows us to scan a digital "foot print" of almost any material during the production process so other aquarium parts, as well as millwork, can match the "as bent" panel perfectly. Having access to fully automated digital machinery enables us to utilize AutoCAD to produce flawless parts in virtually any shape or size in glass, stainless steel, acrylic, and PVC and send this design to design studios or engineering firms.
